Gail is a living history expert and has volunteered at many locations throughout California including Old Sacramento, Marshal Gold Discovery State Historic Park and, currently, Columbia State Historic Park. In Columbia Gail, as a highly trained docent, operates a permanent venue showcasing "Gold Rush Medicine." This activity is presented by Gail and longtime family friend Terry Melau (retired RN as "The Doctor") to introduce visitors to the challenges of dealing with Gold Rush era illnesses and health challenges.
